Why is waxing a better option for men’s hair removal?

Waxing is effective on just about any area of the body except for the scalp and beard. Men who wax experience that their skin stays smoother for longer periods of time versus shaving. The regrowth of hair is slower and softer and is often less irritating than shaving. Skin that has been waxed can often give the appearance that it is firmer and more toned.

What areas can be waxed?

Waxing services at Men’s Den, Inc. include the chest, back, arms, legs, speedo (bikini), commando (brazilian), eyebrow, ear, nose, nape of neck, chin, and upper lip.

What are the waxing products used at Men’s Den, Inc.?

Cirepil hard and soft wax is used for waxing services at Men’s Den, Inc.

What are the steps to waxing?

Upon arrival for your waxing appointment at Men’s Den, Inc. clients are greeted and escorted to a private room. The first step is an in-depth consultation with our men’s waxing professionals. The staff will discuss the waxing process and answer any questions you may have. Also, this is a perfect opportunity to discuss with our clients any contraindications that may be uncovered. If this is the case, we will not provide any waxing services for your safety.

After the waxing service is completed, our highly trained staff will discuss post care steps for the client to be completed at home.

Does waxing hurt?

This is a very popular question due to the media and specific movie scenes. In a short answer, waxing is not as painful as expected. The most uncomfortable part in the waxing process occurs when the waxing professional removes the wax strip which may have a stinging sensation. However, Men’s Den, Inc. does provide an option to our clients to experience the most pain free wax. Before treatment, clients may utilize the Cirepil Pre Wax Cooling Gel which is a pre-depilatory cooling gel to make intimate waxing more comfortable. The benefits of Cirepil wax cooling gel are:

• Desensitizes skin and has sanitizing properties while feeling refreshing
• Contains Calmosensine (decreases skin sensitivity) and Menthol
• Is applied 30-45 minutes before waxing by the waxing professional
• Is ideal for lessening sensitivity
• Limits post-waxing reactions such as redness and tingling
• Is gluten and paraben free

Post treatment, application of Cirepil After Wax Refreshing Gel which has anti-inflammatory properties will also assist in skin irritation that sometimes occurs.

Is waxing popular among men?

Waxing for males has gained popularity. Many men have discovered the benefits of having smooth skin that is hair free. Waxing has longer lasting results than shaving.

Is there anything I need to know after I leave? How should I care for my skin after waxing?

The waxing professional at Men’s Den, Inc. will apply a calming post-treatment Cirepil After Wax Refreshing Gel, however, skin may still be sensitive for up to 24-48 hours. It is advised that during that time clients should avoid tanning (direct sunlight exposure), chlorine (pools and hot tubs), sauna (steam rooms, and intensive exercise workout regimen). Please keep the area as clean and dry as possible. Exfoliation is key to keeping ingrown hairs away. In addition, intimate contact may cause irritation, so it is advised that waxing is scheduled a day before the romantic activity.

How long does my hair have to be in order to wax?

At a minimum, there needs to be at least an 1/8” of hair to wax. Ideally, 1/4” to 1/2” of hair growth is recommended. To put this another way, usually 2 weeks from the last time you shaved. Hair that is too short would have to be waxed over in order to pick up the short, stray hairs which may result in a frustrating and skin irritating experience.

How long will the results last? How often will I need to wax?

Generally, waxing results last for up to 6 weeks. The first 4 times a client comes in for waxing, Men’s Den, Inc. will ask that clients schedule exactly 6 weeks to the day. Why? Hair grows on three different cycles and it is best to sync the cycles together. It is common to experience outgrowth between waxing sessions because the hair is not synced. The goal is to get your hair synced to where clients are clean for 4 weeks and growing out the last 2 weeks. Long term goal is for clients to be able to stretch waxing services to every 8 weeks. However, everyone is different and may experience slightly different results.

Is it normal to experience irritation or swelling?

Men who wax for the first time may experience slight irritation or swelling. The hair follicle has never been disturbed and the roots are deep. This combination may set the table for slight irritation or swelling. Generally, the irritation or swelling will subside within 24-48 hours and as your skin gets used to waxing the irritation or swelling can become less severe to nonexistent over time. Men’s Den, Inc. also uses Cirepil After Wax Refreshing Gel which has anti-inflammatory properties after waxing sessions.

Are there any conditions that will prevent me from getting waxed?

The highly trained staff at Men’s Den, Inc. will conduct an in-depth consultation prior to any waxing service in order to discover if there are any contradictions such as contagious skin conditions or medications.

How should I prepare for my treatment?

Please shower and thoroughly cleanse and dry the area before your waxing appointment. Also, exfoliation of the area that will be waxed will yield the best results. Do not shave the area you plan to have waxed for at least 2-3 weeks prior to your appointment. Wear loose and comfortable clothing to your appointment.

What is a ‘Commando’ wax?

A ‘Commando’ wax involves waxing and removal of the hair from the groin, penis, scrotum, buttocks, and in between.

What if I get an erection during my ‘Commando’ wax?

Erections may be a common body response due to the area getting waxed and respect will be given to both the client and the waxing professional. If this occurs, it should not be a source of anxiety for the client and we at Men’s Den, Inc. will do our best to put you at ease. When an expected physical body response occurs during a waxing service as sometimes happens, we are professional, unfazed, and will not make clients feel any sort of embarrassment. It is our expectation at Men’s Den, Inc. that you act like a gentleman. We are professional, WE are all business so there is ABSOLUTELY no funny business!
